Six alleged Naxals were killed on Sunday in an encounter with the police.
The encounter took place near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.
police have so far recovered bodies of six Maoists clad in uniforms, police said. They have also recovered one 303 carbine, three 12 bore rifles and some cartridges from the spot.
The C-60 battalion of Gadchiroli district police was fired upon by a group of ultras and the police retaliated, police said, quoting preliminary reports reaching the district headquarters.
The operation was conducted by the Commando unit of the Maharashtra Police.
