Aluva (Ker) August 13: Six more activists of radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested tonight in connection with the attack on a lecturer, whose right hand was chopped off last month, police said.
Those arrested were Habeesh (25), Anwar (33), Naushad (28), Abdul Gafoor (37), Affzal (23) and Jaffar (39).
They were trying to distribute books promoting enmity between different religious groups and were charged with promoting enmity between different groups and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, they said, adding 320 books were seized from them.
Police also issued lookout notice against two other PFI activists.
Earlier, 17 people were arrested in connection with the case.
Lecturer T J Joseph’s hand was chopped off on July 4 by suspected PFI activists for preparing a question paper which allegedly contained derogatory references to Prophet Mohammed.
