Six MCD Standing Committee members elected

New Delhi, May 20: Six new members of MCD Standing Committee as well as chairmen and deputy chairmen of six ward committees were elected today.

The members of Standing Committee, a crucial decision-making body of the civic agency, were elected by ward committees of Sadar Paharganj, Shahdara (North), Rohini, City, South and Central zone. The six are Mohd Imran Ismail, B P Mandal, Vijay Prakash Pandey, Mehmood Zia, Mahak Singh and Kartar Singh Tanwar.

The Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of the six ward committees were also elected. All the candidates were elected unanimously except for the posts of Central Zone Ward Committee, the MCD said in a press statement.

The ward committees of six other zones will elect six more Standing Committee members tomorrow. The MCD House has already elected three members — Jai Kishan Sharma (Congress), Sharita Chaudhary and Yogender Chandolia (BJP).
