Hyderabad, March 17: Six persons, including a woman and her one-year-old son, were killed in separate road accidents on the outskirts of the city yesterday.
Four contract workers of electricity department were killed after a tractor in which they were travelling turned turtle at Yacharam while a mother-son duo were killed after hit by a RTC bus at Balanagar. Rash and negligent driving by the drivers of the vehicles led to both the accidents, police said.
In the first incident, four workers got crushed to death under cement electricity poles and two others got injured after the tractor in which they were travelling turned turtle at Gonakal near Yacharam on the Hyderabad-Nagarjunasagar road this afternoon.
The deceased were identified as T Kishan (38) of Ibrahimpatnam, Rami Reddy (27) and Babbaiah (45) – both hailing from Mahabubnagar and Ravinder (27) of Kandukur.
Rajiv Reddy’s condition is critical, police said. The tractor driver, Ramesh, who hails from Manchal mandal, also suffered injuries and is being treated. Police registered a case against the tractor driver.
Meanwhile, a woman and her one-year son were killed after an RTC bus knocked the two-wheeler on which they were travelling at Balangar.
A couple from Shalibanda, Mohd Sajad and Hasna, along with their one-year-old son, Syed Mohammed Hussain, were on their way to Balanagar when a speeding RTC bus, hit their vehicle from behind. The trio fell down but Sajad escaped with minor injuries, police said.
