In separate cases, six people were killed in road accidents at different places in the city and its outskirts.
In Shamshabad police limits, an 18-year-old boy, Md Altaf, suffered grievous injuries when the bike he was riding skidded near Padda Shapur on Sunday night. He died while being shifted to a nearby hospital. His friend and pillion Sheikh also sustained injuries. They met with the accident while returning from Dargah Jahangir Peeran. Altaf was a resident of Nawab Sahab Kunta in Falaknuma.
In another case, a lorry driver died on the spot after being hit by a speeding car on the Outer Ring Road near Himayatsagar on Sunday. According to Rajendranagar police, the deceased, Md Karim, parked his lorry on the roadside and got down to watch an accident-hit vehicle on the other side of the road. However, while crossing the road he was hit by a speeding car. He was resident of Gudur near Raichur of Karnataka.
In a similar case, 26-year-old Md Shahensha, a DCM driver, suffered injuries after he was hit by another DCM van near Nirma Godown in the RGIA police limits on Sunday night. He met with the accident while he was waiting at godown after unloading material from his DCM van. He was hit by another DCM coming in reverse direction. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought. He was a resident of Narsappaguda of Kothur in Mahabubnabar district.
In a different case, a 50-year-old pedestrian died on the spot after he was hit by a speeding car near Bowenpally check post on Sunday night. The Bowenpally police later identified the deceased as M Papireddy, an employee of a private firm and resident of Bowenpally.
In another case, Praveen Kumar, 20, died of injuries which he suffered when the bike he was riding was hit by a Swaraj Mazda van near Gajwel. Under the impact, Praveen flew in the air and was hit by another DCM van coming from the same direction. He died on the way to a nearby hospital. He was a student and residence of Gajwel of Medak district, according to Shamirpet police.
In the last case, 40-year-old KG Bhaskar Reddy succumbed to the injuries which he suffered on November 23 when the bike he was riding was hit by an auto rickshaw near his residence in Gopalpet. He was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital where he died on Monday, according to Veldanda police. (INN)
