Kabul, August 05: At least six men have been killed after a roadside bomb ripped through a civilian vehicle in eastern Afghanistan, the provincial government says.
In the latest attack in the run-up to the presidential election, the bomb hit the group in Nangarhar province on Wednesday as they were traveling to meet district government officials, said a government spokesman.
“Two of those killed are tribal elders and four of them are employees of a private Afghan construction company,” Ahmad Zia Abdulzai told AFP.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Afghanistan has suffered a surge in violence ahead of landmark presidential and provincial council elections on August 20.
