Six held for betting on IPL match

Mumbai: Six persons were arrested in suburban Chembur for allegedly betting on a Twenty20 cricket match of the ongoing IPL season, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a flat in Tilaknagar area of the suburb last night and found the men allegedly placing bets on the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab, they said.

The accused, identified as Prakash Chheda, Manish Poldiya, Dinesh Shah, Amit Gala, Ketan Gada and Yashodhar Pujari were arrested and 16 mobile phones, a laptop and around Rs 1.5 lakh cash recovered from them, police said.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of IT and Gambling Act, they said.
