Six firemen injured in Mumbai high-rise fire

Six firefighters, including two officers, were injured in the major fire that broke out on the 12th floor of a high-rise residential building in southern part of the city, fire brigade sources said.

Fire broke out on the 12th floor of the 26-storey Mont Blanc building in posh Kemps Corner area this evening, they said.

“There were some cylinders, which apparently exploded, injuring six firemen including two officers,” sources said.

One of them was rushed to the Nair Hospital, while the other five were taken to the Burns Hospital at Airoli in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, they said.

Asked to comment on reports that six people were killed in the fire, they said: “So far we only have reports of six injured in the fire.”

None of the residents of the building were reported to have suffered injuries.

14 fire engines were rushed to the spot, sources said, adding that the cause of the fire was not yet known.
