Hisar (Haryana), April 15:Six hardened criminals escaped from custody when taken to a court in this Haryana district Friday, police said.
The six, identified as Sukhwinder, Surajbhan alias Raju, Ravi alias Sonu, Sunil alias Pilot, Sonu and Pawan Kumar, had been brought to court for hearings in the cases against them, Hisar police chief Haneef Quraishi said.
“While waiting for their turn, they went to the toilet and escaped from there by cutting the iron rods. We are looking into this matter and strict action will be taken against the negligent police officials,” Quraishi told IANS.
According to police, all the six accused have notorious criminal backgrounds.
Teams have been set up to the escaped criminals’ possible hideouts in Hisar and in neighbouring districts, while a watch is being kept on their other associates, Quraishi said.
A reward has been announced o gives clue about the whereabouts of the six accused.
“Police would give a cash reward of Rs.10,000 per prisoner for clues about their whereabouts,” said Quraishi.
