Six Congress leaders in monitoring committee

Gangtok, April 20: In a setback to the Pawan Kumar Chamling-led SDF government in Sikkim, the Centre has nominated six local Congress leaders to a monitoring committee to keep a tab on the implementation of the rural development projects in the state.

In a letter sent to the state government recently, the Union Rural Development Ministry has intimated the Rural Management and Development Department (RMDD) about the nomination of Congress leaders K N Lepcha, K N Upreti, Youva Raj Rai, Topden Lepcha, Anil Lachenpa and Acharya Tshering Lama on the state-level vigilance and monitoring committee.

The state government has been further directed to convene a quarterly meeting of the Vigilance and Monitoring Committee to review various rural development projects and other activities and send a report to the Centre on a regular basis.
