Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 19 : Six people have been arrested for allegedly running an online sex racket in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram city.
Two of the accused have been identified as Rahul and Rashmi, who were also the organizers of ‘Kiss of Love’ protest- a mass display of affection in which the people kissed openly in defiance of more accepted, chaste public behavior- in Kochi city last year.
The other accused include three men and a woman.
The racket was busted by the police after the Child Rights Commission lodged a complaint against a page on social networking site Facebook, ‘Kochu Sundarikal’, for promoting and facilitating paedophilia.
Initial probe in this case led the police to unearthing the larger racket.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Crime Branch, S. Sreejith, said that the police also rescued three minors including the six-year-old son of Rahul and Rashmi.
“It is actually a case a of child trafficking where supposedly two children were brought from Bengaluru for flesh trade in Kerala and six people are involved and we have arrested all the six. Two other suspects are there who actually dodged the police and made their escape in a car and one of the constables was slightly injured also. An FIR has been registered for the same and we are on a lookout for these two people also,” said Sreejith.
Under the operation called ‘Operation Big Daddy’, the police found that the accused were running several websites where they solicited sex in exchange for money. (ANI)
