Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy today said the situation at Madannapet and Saidabad police station limits where communal violence erupted in the morning was under control and five persons were injured in the violence.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Reddy, who was monitoring the situation, appealed to the public not to believe any rumours and act in haste. The security was tightened at all the sensitive areas at Madannapet and Saidabad areas where indefinite curfew was clamped, he said. Section 144 was also imposed at some other places too, he said.
He requested political leaders not to visit sensitiveareas and curfew would be lifted only after return of
normalcy. All the injured were shifted to the Osmania General Hospital.
The RTC authorities suspended operation of city buses to Saidabad and surrounding localities after nearly 15
buses were damaged.
