Washington: US has alleged that Iran is directly involved in the attacks made on the two plants of world’s biggest oil company Aramco in Saudi Arabia. However, Iran has rebutted the claim.
In his twitter message Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed Iran for an attack at a Saudi oil field. “Amid all the calls for de-escalation, Iran has now launched an unprecedented attack on the world’s energy supply. There is no evidence the attacks came from Yemen,”
Making a scathing attack on Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani and foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Pompeo added “Tehran is behind nearly 100 attacks on Saudi Arabia while Rouhani and Zarif pretend to engage in diplomacy.”
He appealed world fraternity to condemn the attacks made by Iran.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, rejected the accusation that Iran was behind the attack.
Saudi Arabia’s oil industry came under a direct attack on Saturday as Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group carried out drone attacks on Aramco oil plants.
Meanwhile, organisation of Islamic cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the attacks. Secretary-General of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen said in a statement that the ministers expressed their condemnation of the terrorist incident saying these attacks which destabilize security and stability of the Kingdom and the region, targeting the global energy supplies and the global economy. He added that the ministers expressed their countries’ solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
