New Delhi: Putting the onus on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre for smooth functioning of the Parliament during the Budget Session, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja on Tuesday said the present situation in the nation is ‘disturbing and scary’ due to the policies pursued by the NDA regime.
“The situation in the country is very disturbing and scary. We have conveyed this to the government in the all party meetings. The situation is disturbing because of the policies pursued by the BJP-led NDA government, it is because of the conduct of BJP’s elected representatives and ministers,” Raja told ANI.
“If the Parliament becomes stormy then the party which is in power must be held responsible for such a situation,” he added.
He also said the government cannot get away by blaming the Opposition for turbulent session in the Parliament, adding that the ruling dispensation must ensure that discussions are held and the House functions smoothly.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said the government is ready to discuss each and every issue in the Budget Session.
The Budget Session will begin today with President Pranab Mukherjee’s joint address to both the Houses of Parliament.
The Budget Session is expected to be a stormy one with the Opposition planning to corner the government on several issues, including the JNU row and Rohith Vemula’s suicide in the Hyderabad University.
The Rail Budget will be presented on February 25 and the General Budget on February 29. (ANI)
