Sit-in by farmers enters second day in Maharashtra

Nashik: The sit-in ‘Satyagraha’ here by thousands of farmers, on various agrarian issues including loan waiver, entered the second day today.

The agitation was going on in a peaceful manner, an official of the city police control room said.

The farmers under the banner of Maharashtra Rajya Kisan Sabha (affiliated to the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS)).

yesterday launched an indefinite sit-in protest on various agrarian issues including loan waiver, fair and remunerative price, drought relief, electricity bills etc, at Anant Kanhere ground in the city.

The farmers are demanding stringent implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), and forest land, pasture land and temple land to be vested in the name of the actual tillers (owners).
