SIT chief reviews progress of riot cases

Ahmedabad, November 18: R K Raghavan, heading the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the 2002 post-Godhra riot cases, was today here to review the progress of cases whose trials were in progress.

Raghavan remained present today during trial in Gulburg society case where 69 people including ex-MP Ehsan Jaffery were killed during the riots on February 28, 2002.

The former CBI director said he was here to witness the proceedings and was not in a position to share any developments with regard to investigation, in some cases, which were still on.

“Since the cases are on trial I cannot share any developments with you. This would amount to contempt of court,” he said before leaving the court premises.

He was accompanied by two other members of the SIT, Paramveer Singh, former CBI DIG and Ashish Bhatia, Ahmedabad Range IG.
