Sisters fatally knocked down by DCM van

Hyderabad, April 21: Two sisters, who were walking on the roadside, were knocked down by a speeding DCM van at Bachupally in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The sisters, P Swapna (24) and P Archana (21), were natives of Bhimavaram and migrated to the city for livelihood. They were residing at Bachupally and working as labourers in Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

Around 5.30 a.m, the duo were on way to their workplace when a speeding van knocked them down from behind at Bachupally crossroads. They suffered severe injuries and died instantly, Dundigal SI M Madhusudhan said.

The driver of the DCM (bearing registration number AP 28 TA 5387) abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. Dundigal police registered a case and are investigating.
