Jalandhar, January 18: Sister of Sarabjit Singh, who is facing death sentence in Pakistan for a string of bomb blasts in 1990s, today sought international pressure on the neighbouring country for her brother’s release.
“I have talked to various delegates who have come to attend the Punjab NRI Summit-2011 here for the release of my brother,” Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur said.
“I met Virender Sharma, Indian-origin Labor Party MP, and also talked to Ruby Dhala, a Canadian lawmaker, over the phone…I also mailed my appeal to Sukh Dhaliwal, four-time Canadian MP of Indian origin,” she said here.
She said Sarabjit was implicated in the case. The actual culprit is alleged fraudster Manjeet Singh.
“In fact, Manjeet had committed the offence for which Sarabjit was made a scapegoat,” Kaur said.
Manjeet Singh was arrested by Panchkula Police in Haryana last year in a fraud case.
