Giving impetus to welfare wing, the State government has taken a decision to offer Rs 1,000 pension to single women in the State from April 1, Finance Minister, Etela Rajender has stated.
Releasing the SRSP flood canal waters into farm fields in Karimnagar, the Finance Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken a bold decision to extend helping hand to the single women by offering them pension on regular basis. He asserted that the government was according top priority to the welfare sector and spending Rs 30,000 crore. The single women were leading pathetic lives in the rural pockets and the pension will help them to a great extent, he hoped. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has come up with generosity to extend a helping hand to the single women, who are disowned by their own family members, he said.
With the Telangana movement spirit, the government was taking up various welfare schemes to cater to the people’s needs and live up to their expectations, he claimed. However, he blamed the Opposition parties for trying to create hurdles in the way of development. He also said the TRS Government was offering benefits to the deserving unlike the previous governments which benefited their party activists. “We are firm to distribute waters to tail-end crops through SRSP. Priority will be given to those staying in huts and make-shift shelters to give double bedroom houses. The Finance Minister warned of serious action through PD Act against the officials and staff if they indulge in irregularities in implementing the welfare schemes. Budget for 2017-18 was being prepared based on impact of cash ban implications and GST, he added. (NSS)
