Chennai, October 15: A Singapore national of Chinese origin was arrested today in connection with a fake credit card case after he tried to purchase gold ornaments using the card, whose original holder is a citizen of Bangladesh.
Police identified the arrested as Ton Koh Yu (28) and said four fake credit cards, allegedly procured in Malaysia, and two mobile phones were recovered from him.
Officials from the bank fraud division of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) said that Yu had swiped the card after purchasing jewels at a popular jewellery here. However, the machine did not accept the card, and Yu said that he would take the jewels the next day after paying the amount in cash, police said.
But when he came the next day, he only brought more credit cards, creating suspicion in the jeweller who informed the police
