Some 1,000 silver coins were in the soil in Neelipalli village under Maldhakal mandal of Mahbubnagar district on Wednesday.
According to the information, the silver coins were discovered while the ground was being leveled for construction of additional classrooms in the village school. The coins engraved with face of Queen Victoria were found to have been minted in 1840s. The total value of the silver coins is estimated to be around Rs five lakh now. (NSS)
