Taking a serious view against the attack on a Sikh Gurudwara in Vizianagaram and sacrilege to sacred scripture of Sikhs besides attacking Sikh priest, the Sikhs of twin cities staged a protest demonstration at Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet in Hyderabad here on Sunday.
The Sikhs gathered at Ameerpet Gurudwara in large numbers with placards and black flags demanded the Central and State governments to arrest the miscreants involved in the attack and take stringent action against them.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet, S Darshan Singh said that during the Seemandhra agitation at Vizianagaram yesterday, anti-social elements pelted stones on the Gurdwara Saheb and some miscreants pelted stones on the religious place and few of them barged into the Gurudwara and abused the Sikh priest in a filthy language. Attacking a religious place which has nothing to do with the ongoing Seemandhra agitation is very unfortunate and should should be condemned by one and all. Sikhs are peace loving people and never get into controversies, he said.
President of Gurudwara Saheb Barambala, Sikh Chawniat, Attapur, S Harbans Singh demanded Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to initiate steps and see that culprits who were involved in the attack are arrested and stringent action is taken against them so that such incidents do not recur. Adequate police bandobust should be made at all the Gurdwaras in the state to avoid such incidents in near future, he demanded. (INN)
