Signature campaign was undertaken by various organisations at the foot of Charminar demanding immediate implementation of 12 percent reservations. Demanding immediate fulfilment of ruling party’s promise and formation of BC Commission, Awaz Committee in collaboration with various organisations launched signature campaign and collected signatures of the people. The campaign got overwhelming response from the public at Charminar. Demanding 12 % reservations by immediately forming BC Commission, it was warned that government could face strong public anger if the 12% reservations are not implemented.
Maulana Syed Tariq Quadri, Maulana Syed Hamed Husain Shuttari, Mr. Abdul Sattar, Mr. Ahmed Ali, Mr. Minhaj Quraishi, Mr. Raza Ali, Mr. M A Hayat, Mr. Ayyub and others were present on the occasion. Talking to media persons Mr. Syed Tariq Quadri told that state government was not showing seriousness over providing 12% reservations to Muslims as a result Muslims could face heavy loss in employment and educational field. He further said that the measures taken by the state government in this connection were nothing but mere eyewash.
People who participated in the signature campaign also termed the silence adopted by the government as unfortunate and warned that if the government does not take measures to solve 12% reservation issue it may face strong public protest as Muslims are not alone in the struggle for reservations but the standard bearers of cosmopolitan culture and communal harmony are also supporting the cause.
