In the early hours of July 29, the Cyber Crime Police, CCS, DD, conducted a raid in Tirmulgerry area in Secunderabad and arrested four accused persons, who are illegally tapping the Satellite signal committing Signal Piracy of cable TV service providers in the name of Messrs Pearl Technology. They also seized the equipment used by
them.
The accused were converting the signal into Internet Signal in the name of Jadoo TV. Due to this, the customers all over the world can view about 115 Indian TV Channels, just by purchasing Internet setup box of Jadoo TV make. Only the customer has to purchase Jadoo TV Box and need not pay any monthly subscription. Since most of the channels are paid ones, the accused were streaming their channels through Internet, the paid TV Channels viz. Maa TV, Zee TV and others incurring huge losses.
Sumit Ahuja, CEO of Pearl Technology, based in Hyderabad was streaming 115 channels to the Jadoo TV, which is a US based Company run by Faisal Aftab and Sajid Sohail. Sumit Ahuja is absconding and his two Bank Accounts were identified and being seized by the Police. The Jadoo TV boxes are presently being used by the customers in the USA, Australia, Singapore and 15 other countries all over the world. Each Jadoo TV Box is being sold at a price of 250 to 300 US Dollars and so far two lakh Jadoo TV boxes were sold throughout the world by the accused.
The Jadoo TV boxes and other equipment required for converting the Video signal into Internet signal are manufactured and being imported from China. This Signal Piracy has been going on in our country for the past six to seven years on different names viz., Jadoo I, Jadoo II from different cities of India like Bengaluru and so on. The accused is changing the set up to different cities from time to time to escape from the clutches of Police.
On the complaint lodged by Krishna Kumar, Manager-Distribution, Maa Television Network Limited, Hyderabad, a case was registered at Cyber Crime Police, CCS, DD and the raid was conducted and the accused Mir Kashif Ali Khan, 27, Lvl.3 Engineer, Pearl Technologies, Jagadishwara Chari, Channel Monitor, N. Sai Kumar, Tele Caller and
J.B. Meghanandhan, Web designer were arrested.
Teams comprising Inspector Majid Ali Khan and Inspector Karunakar Reddy, SI Venu Gopal, police constables Mahesh, Sunil, Feroz, Raghu, cracked the case and nabbed the accused under the supervision of DCP DD and ACP Cyber Crime, CCS, DD, Hyderabad.
