Mumbai, August 01: One can sense immense confidence in the tone of Siddharth Anand, the young film maker who has three films behind him, all of which have been successful though on a varied degree. SALAAM NAMASTE, TA RA RUM PUM and BACHNA AE HASEENO have all made money at the box office. Now after working with Yash Raj Films on three films, he has forayed into Nadiadwala Grandsons. Meanwhile, Siddharth is sure that he would continue to bring in his own style of film making and stay on to be original.
“This is always going to be the case,” says Siddharth who has now directed ANJAANA ANJAANI with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, “When Sajid (Nadiadwala) roped me in to make a film for his banner, he wanted to see what I brought to the table rather than follow someone. I was happy because what’s the point in roping me in if I went on to do everything that was already been done by others.”
Well, buzz in the air is that ANJAANA ANJAANI indeed boasts of a storyline that hasn’t been evidenced earlier in a Hindi film. Also, music plays an integral part in the film’s narrative, something that further excited Sidharth since he himself is quite conscious about its importance in Hindi films.
Meanwhile, he is also sure of bringing in his own individuality to the film.
“Even for my first film SALAAM NAMASTE which I did for Yash Raj Films, I went against the tide”, he reflects on the journey he has taken so far, “This is a banner which primarily makes family films and I went ahead and told a story about living in and unwanted pregnancy. In fact this is what attracted Adi (Aditya Chopra) to the subject. For my first film, I could have catered to a regular NRI subject which YRF was making at that time but I chose to be different. I am glad I could add on to the change.”
