Pune,February 16: It proved to be the proverbial tryst with death for Anandi and Ankik, the two young siblings hailing from Kolkata, who met each other for the last time at the table that was blown up in the terror attack destroying German Bakery on Saturday evening.
A student of BA first year at Ferguson college here, Anandi Dhar (19) had joined Ankik (23), her brother who had come down to Pune from Mumbai to give a treat for getting a job in the metropolis, accompanied by friend Shilpa Goenka.
The small party fixed to enjoy the popular items at the eatery and its ambiance that attracted the young people, ended in a deafening explosion that shattered the structure to pieces among which lay the dreams that were snuffed out.
Friends and teachers of Anandi who came to Sassoon hospital mortuary recalled with choked voice her sensitive and amiable nature and interest in English poetry.
It was not easy even for the para-medical staff of the hospital to hide emotions when their parents arrived from Kolkata to take possession of the two bodies.
