Moscow (Russia): The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on Saturday has purported responsibility for a stabbing attack in Russia, that has left two people in serious condition, reports ISIL’s news agency Amaq.
The knife attacker, identified as a local resident, stabbed eight people on the street in Siberian city of Surgut before being shot by the police.

The male attacker carried out attacks on passersby along central streets of the city at about 11.20 a.m. local time.
“A man was running along the main streets stabbing people,” Tass reported, quoting the spokesperson of the local law enforcement.
All the injured were taken to hospital.
Russia’s Investigative Committee’s representative Svetlana Petrenko said that the investigation expects further information on the accused, including regarding possible mental disorders.
The Investigative Committee has opened criminal proceedings.
The Surgut stabbing comes, a day after the Finnish stabbing spree in the city of Turku, which killed two people. (ANI)
