Hyderabad: Exactly one month back from today, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was celebrating his birthday and her old mother was offering him the sweet made by her, mother of 25-year-old; Mohammed Ayyub was suffering fainting spells due to shock of her son’s death. Ayyub’s wife, who was carrying 9-month-old infant in her arms, was heaving hysterical sobs, on the death of her husband. Ayyub’s 4-year-old was in a state of shock unable to bear the loss of his beloved father.
Though the screams of Ayyub’s relatives couldn’t reach the Narendra Modi government at the centre or Gujarat’s BJP government but the Muslims of Hyderabad and readers of Siasat heard their sobs and came forward to help them.
Keeping in view the agony of Ayyub’s grief-stricken father, Ishaq, mother, Meraj Banu, unmarried sister Yasmeen Banu, widow and two children, Siasat editor Mr. Zahed Ali Khan appealed Siasat readers to help the grief-stricken family. A special report was also published in this connection. The appeal evoked huge response and thus Rs. 2.9 lakh was deposited in the bank for the grieved family. Shamefully Gujarat government didn’t pay any compensation to the family of victim of cow vigilantism.
It must be recalled that on September 13 – the day Muslims celebrated Eid al-Adha, the 25-year-old, Mohammed Ayyub was mercilessly thrashed by gau rakshaks. Ayyub’s vehicle carrying a bullock and a calf had met with an accident on the highway. While the calf died in the accident the bullock survived. On seeing this, some bystanders lunged towards Ayyub shouting that he was carrying the animals for slaughter. The beasts soon attacked Ayyub with iron rods and wooden sticks leaving him seriously injured. He succumbed to injuries after three days.
