Dr. Syed Mohammed Haneef is one among the 5 youth who were killed in a fake encounter on April 6, 2015. Human Rights activists and organisations and the families of the five youth claimed that it was not an encounter but a cold-blooded murder by the police who killed the undertrials while shifting them from Warangal to Hyderabad.
Since after his arrest in 2010 the family of Dr. Haneef was living a miserable life, their life became hell after Dr. Haneef’s encounter in April 2015. The widow is having a tough time bringing up her 3 children all alone. In this scenario the report published in Siasat got an overwhelming response and philanthropists and justice loving people contributed Rs. 3.8 lakh for Dr. Syed Mohammed Haneef’s widow and children. While Abu Asim Azmi Chief of Samaj Wadi Party Mumbai unit donated Rs. 1 lakh for the victimised family. Faiz-e-Aam Trust also decided to help the poor family after reading the report published in Siasat. Secretary and Trustee Faiz-e-Aam Trust and Secretary Hyderabad Mutual Benefit Society Mr. Iftekhar Husain told that at the behest of Siasat editor Faiz-e-Aam Trust has decided to sponsor the education of 3 children of Dr. Haneef; Misbah Noor (5th class), Mohammed Mus’ab (4th class)and Abdur Rahman (UKG). It will also provide Rs. 3500 monthly for house rent.
Ishrat Banu called on Siasat editor on Wednesday. Secretary Faiz-e-Aam Trust Mr. Iftekhar Husain and Dr. Shaukat Ali Mirza President Helping Hand were also present on the occasion. Faiz-e-Aam Trust has also decided to make Ishrat Banu appear in SSC or TOSS exam and make her do lab technician course so that she can stand on her own feet. It was also decided to fix-deposit Rs. 3.8 lakh in the names of children. It must be noted that Dr. Syed Mohammed Haneef was an Ayurvedic doctor who was kept in prison since 2010.
