Siasat distributes milk for Kashmiri children and insulin for diabetics

Jammu and Kashmir has been hit by the worst-ever floods which have wreaked havoc in the valley. According to official estimate the death toll due to torrential rains in Jammu and Kashmir has climbed to nearly 300 including the 44 members of a marriage party who are missing since their bus was washed away in Rajouri district.

Apart from widespread loss of lives, people suffered financial loss worth crores of rupees. Even though the water levels are receding in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir but hundreds are still trapped in the inundated areas of the city and still required to be supplied food and medicines.

Siasat daily set up Siasat Kashmir Relief Fund for Kashmiri brothers in distress which received overwhelming response from its readers. Through the fund, Siasat sent milk, diapers and other items for infants and 65806 insulin injections and syringes for diabetic patients. These items were sent and distributed under the supervision of influential personalities like Mahfooz Nazki, son of Chief Justice AP High Court Justice Bilal Nazki and others. Commendably the relief material was delivered to Kashmir by Indigo Airlines free of charge. Lauding the humanitarian spirit of Indigo Airlines Siasat editor Mr. Zahed Ali Khan has thanked Indigo Airlines.
