Siasat announces Dr. Afzaluddin Iqbal Award

Hyderabad, June 29 (Siasat News): “The people who are always in touch with the legacies left behind by their ancestors can really be called ‘alive’. Those who have forgotten the history of their ancestors, find themselves in the darkness of oblivion.”

These were the words of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, editor Siasat who was delivering a speech at Siasat’s golden jubilee hall on the occasion of the book release on the late author, academician and former president of Osmania University’s department of Urdu, Md. Afzaluddin Iqbal.

This book was compiled under the joint aegis of Yousuf Sharfuddin literary and religious trust and Urdu mass communication. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan said that a topper of the Urdu computer training center which is being run under the aegis of Siasat, would be given a cash prize of Rs. 5000 every year in the name of late Dr. Afzaluddin Iqbal.

He further said that Abid Ali Khan Educational Trust has been arranging Urdu education for thousands of students and the better results are there for everyone to see. He also said that the unclaimed Muslim dead bodies are buried with the financial help of Siasat and financial help is also provided for the marriages of those Muslim girls who hail from backward sections of the society.

On this occasion, justice E Ismail, member human rights commission, said that Dr. Afzaluddin had started his career as a lab assistant. He did a lot of hard work and obtained doctorate’s degree.

Not only this, he also contributed in the field of Urdu literature and education. He is a torchbearer for the new generation.

Prof. Abdul Rahim, in his speech said that late Dr. Afzaluddin was instrumental in getting success to start Urdu journalism course in Osmania University. Mr. S K Afzaluddin, vice chairman Urdu Academy, said that he would represent and do all his best to get a lifetime achievement award for Late Dr. Afzaluddin posthumously.
