SI critical after car hits his bike

New Delhi: A police sub-inspector is in critical condition after his motorbike was hit by a car in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area, police said today.

The incident happened yesterday when Navneet Kumar, who is posted at Govindpuri police station, was going somewhere on his motorbike in connection with investigation of a case, said a senior police officer.

“His bike was hit by a car from the front side. He suffered severe injuries including head injuries. He was rushed to Batra Hospital. His condition is critical,” said the officer.

A case has been registered under sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) IPC, he said.

The offending vehicle has been traced and the driver, Prakash Garkoti (44) who is a resident of Govindpuri, has been arrested.
