SI aspirants hold protest at CM’s camp office

Hyderabad, November 18: Hundreds of sub-inspector aspirants on Thursday staged dharna in front of Manjira Guest house near Chief Minister’s camp office demanding that the government increase age limit for SI posts for three years from 25 to 28.

Nearly 1,000 SI aspirants gathered near the Manjira Guest house demanding that the government increase age limit for SI posts for three years. When the aspirants tried to contact Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to press for their demand, the camp security did not allow them to meet the Chief Minister.

In protest against the refusal to grant permission to meet the Chief Minister, the candidates staged a sit-in dharna in front of Manjira Guest House and raised slogans against the government. The aspirants blamed the government for not conducting recruitments since 2008 after issuing of notification. They alleged that the aspirants lost the opportunity due to government’s negligence and failed to conduct recruitments.

The aspirants demanded that the state government follow the guidelines of neighbouring states in this regard and relax age for recruitments.

However, the SI aspirants later met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy under the leadership of Backward Classes Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah and submitted a memorandum in this regard. The Chief Minister assured the aspirants that he would take a decision on age relaxation after having a meeting with Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy and the officials concerned.
