Showcause notices to PRP rebel MLAs

Hyderabad, April 30: Even as the political scene is hotting up in Kadapa, complaints and petitions against the rebel MLAs particularly those loyal to Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSR Congress party were being made by the political parties concerned in recent times.

Based on the petitions, notices are being served against the legislators asking them to respond.

Deputy speaker Nadendla Manohar on Friday served notices on PRP MLAs Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy (Allagadda) and Katasani Rami Reddy (Banaganapalle) in Kurnool district both loyal to Jagan, and gave one week’s time to respond to the disqualification petitions filed against them by the PRP for their ‘anti-party activities.’

It may be recalled that PRP whip V Geetha, MLA G Srinivasa Rao and PRP leader and former minister K Subbarayudu have submitted two petitions against the two rebel MLAs on Thursday.

Manohar after going through the petitions served notices on them.

It may be recalled that Manohar had taken several months to act on the disqualification petitions submitted by the TDP against its two rebel MLAs N Prasanna Kumar Reddy (Kovur) and Y Balanagi Reddy (Mantralayam).

He had even not acted immediately on the disqualification petition filed against the then rebel TDP MLA Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy (Banswada) and also on the resignation letter given by him after joining the TRS.

Besides, there were several instances where the Legislature Secretariat took several months to act on the complaints.

The deputy speaker had recently served notices on two rebel TDP MLAs and also on four rebel Congress MLAs – K Surekha (Parakala), G Srikanth Reddy (Rayachoti), C Adinarayana Reddy (Jammalamadugu) and A Amarnath Reddy (Rajampet).

He, however, accepted the resignation of Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy. A final decision on all the disqualification petitions will be taken based on explanation given by the legislators concerned.
