Show-cause notice served on Ambati

Hyderabad, July 10: Acting on a complaint lodged by the office-bearers of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, the APCC disciplinary and screening committee today served a notice on former MLA and APCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu seeking an explanation why action should not be taken against him for making remarks against chief minister K Rosaiah recently.

It also directed him to be present before the committee at 12 noon on July 12.

I t i s lear nt that committee chairman K Satyanarayana Raju had acted on the issue in accordance with the recommendation made by PCC chief D Srinivas. Raju had met the chief minister in the latter’s chamber in the Assembly before issuing the notice to Rambabu this afternoon.

Action, including suspension from the party for a six-year period, against the former MLA will be taken at the PCC level provided that he (Rambabu) is not a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Meanwhile, Rambabu, speaking to mediapersons, stuck to his remarks made against Rosaiah and said that he would respond to the notice and appear before the disciplinary and screening committee. ‘’I feel that my remarks (against the chief minister) are not treated as party’s indiscipline. I will respond to the notice before the PCC disciplinary committee.

I t is party’s internal affair,’’ he said.

Rambabu had criticised Rosaiah for allegedly directing his ministers and par t y MLAs against attending Jagan Mohan Reddy ’s Odarpu Yatra in Srikakulam and East Godavari districts.

“Rosaiah should remember that he bcame the chief minister by accident and because of the unfortunate demise of YS Rajasekhara Reddy,’’ Ramababu is alleged to have remarked.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader P Shankar Rao remarked that Ambati Rambabu was behaving like a ‘spokesperson’ for the YSR’s family. It was not proper to criticise Rosaiah who was nominated by the party high command, he said.
