Mumbai : Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar wants his latest production Pink to be made tax free. “We have requested the Delhi government and the main (centre) government to make it tax-free. We are talking. Some of the ministries came and saw the film and they have liked it. There will be a special screening for the Information and Broadcasting ministry happening this week,” Shoojit told PTI.
The courtroom drama thriller has reportedly garnered over Rs 21 crore at the box office since its release. For Shoojit, the box-office numbers are not that important but what matters is the love of the audience.
“For Pink, numbers don’t matter to me. I am not thinking about how much the film has earned. I am not bothered about how much business the film is making. The unprecedented love from the media and audience is what is dear to me,” he said.
Even after release, the team of Pink plans to promote the movie extensively. “I want to do free shows for this film including for girls. We will have a discussion in Kolkata. We are trying to have a discussion with the judges as well. There are plans in place (to promote the film ahead),” Shoojit said.
The film collected Rs 9.54 crores on Sunday, registering an overall growth of 120.83% from Friday to Sunday. The film is expected to do well on weekdays also as the film is getting both love and appreciation from the audience.
The film saw around 25 percent occupancy on Friday (September 16) morning but improved slowly. The strong praise soon converted into box office earnings and a good growth was seen in the collections on day two.
