Shoes thrown at Pak Prez Zardari

Birmingham, August 08: A protestor on Saturday threw both his shoes at the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, when he was addressing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) meeting in the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

He was later taken into custody by the police.

The furious protestors staged demonstrations outside the International Convention Centre venue in Birmingham.

They were protesting Zardari’s visit to UK when the Pakistan is suffering from the devastating floods.

They further said that he should not have agreed for the UK visit after the controversial remarks of UK Prime Minister David Cameron regarding the Pakistan’s attitude towards terrorism.

The protestors from various groups told the media that Zardari should have been back in Pakistan at the time of crisis caused by the flash floods when his people needs him the most.

Some of the protestors threw shoes at the pictures of Zardari.

They expressed their aggression saying that Zardari instead of continiuing his UK visit, should have been back in Pakistan to co-ordinate the rescue efforts and look after the people there.
