A 22-year-old Palestinian woman, Hilwa Salim Darwish, tried to stab Israeli security guard, Yishai Kreitenberger, 33, who was standing at the entrance to the West Bank settlement of Beitar Illit.
The woman was Walking casually and tried to enter the predominately
Jewish city. When the guard tried to stop her and asked for her identification card. The woman reached a knife from her purse and tried to stab him.
The guard said to the press that ”I was standing at the city’s guard post when I noticed a woman walking towards me. She was tense, looking around [as though] she was unfamiliar with the place.
As she approached, she presented her green Palestinian ID card.So I told her she could not enter. While I was talking, I saw her putting her hand in her purse. [When] I asked her why she was [doing that], she took out a knife and managed to
scratch me with it.”
However the guard tried to back away, and the women was shot in the street ,she taken to Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Karem.
A number of Palestinians from the village across the road started protesting after she was shot dead. The municipality then ordered the workers to head home for the day due to the fear of riots .
