Shocking Hospital Horror: Eight women dead after sterilisation surgery

In a shocking incident, eight women have died due to medical negligence in sterilisation camp organised by the state government in Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, reports said on Tuesday.

Reports claim that twenty other women are in critical condition after undergoing sterilisation surgeries.

The state health department has formed a three member panel to inquire into the incident. The sterilisation camp was held in the home district of Health Minister Amar Agarwal on Saturday.

The camp was organised as part of family planning programme. As per the programme, the women undergoing operation get Rs 1400 and the worker who brings the gets Rs 200 for each.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister swung into action and set up a 5-member committee to probe into the unfortunate incident.

Taking serious note of the incident, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh suspended the four doctors over Bilaspur sterilisation fiasco. The police have registered FIR against them.
