UP: Amidst nationwide outrage against the recent Kathua, Unnao rape and murder cases of minor girls, a similar consecutive fourth incident is reported from UP’s Etah where a minor seven-year-old was brutally hacked to death after being raped.
The victim who was attending a wedding ceremony was allegedly raped and strangulated to death by a tent man hired for setting up tents in the function, Rediff reported.
The incident triggered protests by the victim’s family and relatives who blocked the Etah-Farrukhabad road this Tuesday.
According to the initial reports, the victim accompanied her family to the wedding ceremony held in UP’s western area Etah near Mandi Samiti gate. A tent man hired to set up the tents had reportedly lured the girl, raped her and later killed her to cover his heinous act.
Akhilesh Chaurasia Superintendent of Police said the culprit Sonu Jatav, a tent man carried out the act in an inebriated state and later murdered the girl.
“After this, the accused fled the spot. The body of the girl was found in an under-construction house in the vicinity of the marriage venue. A rope was found tied around the neck of the girl,” he said.
He added, “On the basis of complaints filed by the family members, police have arrested Sonu Jatav, and a case has been registered under the POCSO Act against the accused.
The victims’ body has been sent for medical examination said the officer.
