Guwahati: Women dancers of a troupe were allegedly harassed and forced to strip down and dance by a mob of over 500 spectators sources said.
The indecent incident is reported from Assam’s Kamrup district where a mob of 500 men allegedly made attempts in forcing the dancers to strip and dance during the cultural programme officials said on Sunday, Hans reports.
The police officials have arrested two men in this incident on Sunday after the cultural troupe registered a complaint against the accused organizers of the programme at the Chaygaon Police Station.
According to the FIR, the dancers were heckled by the spectators who demanded that they strip and dance, but somehow the dancers managed to escape from the programme at Asolpara.
Sources allege that the organisers conned people and had sold tickets at very high rates claiming to provide strip dance by performers flying in from West Bengal on Friday.
While the investigation is underway the Police are on the hunt to nab others involved in the incident.
