London [UK]: Shoaib Akhtar, former cricketer expressed his view after Pakistan’s slim chances of qualifying for semifinal comes to an end on Friday.
Akhtar said that unfortunately, Pakistan team failed to list itself in the top four teams due to Net Run Rate (NRR). He termed it as a sad ending.
Recalling the day when the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain, Akhtar said that the story would have been different if Pakistan would have won the match.
Talking about the changes needed in Pakistan’s cricket, he said, “there is a need of maturity in Pakistani batting line up”. He also stressed on strike rate. “Strike rate of 150+ is needed”, he added.
For the good future of Pakistan’s cricket, he said that persons who understand modern day cricket should be given chance.
He also urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take appropriate decisions.
Pakistan fail to qualify for semis despite victory over Bangladesh
Pakistan Imam-ul-Haq’s century before Shaheen Shah Afridi’s six-wicket haul helped their side thrash Bangladesh by 94 runs in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World at Lord’s here on Friday.
However, despite registering a win, Pakistan failed to advance in the tournament as they had to restrict the Bangladeshi side on seven runs or below after they posted a target of 316 runs.
