Hyderabad: If the rising popularity of Chaal Ghazab Hai song is any indication then Shivam is set to make waves in the Hindi film world.
For Chaal Ghazab Hai he has worked with well know TV artiste Jannat Zubair Rahmani. The song that was released by Zee Music has received about 9 million hits.
It has come at a time when the young lad from Uttar Pradesh was basking in the little glory he had received in superstar Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan wherein he had played a small role.
“My desire to work in movies is too overwhelming. I can’t think of anything but work in movies. I believe I was a great actor in my previous Janam,” says he with a glint in his eyes.
Relating his story says he: “I was a state topper in matriculation. I could have pursued studies with ease. That’s what my parents wanted too. What they did not realize that I had determined to become an actor. It took me a couple of years to convince them. I invited them to watch the play in school where I was executing an important role that of Lakshman in Ram Leela. They were surprised at the applause I received. That day they also realized how much hard work I was putting in acting. Perhaps that sowed the seeds in my parents to allow me to do something I was passionate about,” he narrated.
Shivam Roy Prabhakar comes from Marehra Sharif, a town located 63km from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
Recalling an incident he says, “Mohammed Ali shah, a nephew of veteran film personality Naseeruddin Shah was in Aligarh to promote a movie. He also attended a play in which I was playing an important role. He saw my acting skills and suggested that I should go to Mumbai and try my luck there.”
Desire is okay. But what about his family support which was crucial? It was the most difficult task but his parents came around to permit him to travel to Mumbai and pursue my passion.
“I was only 17 when I landed in Mumbai. I was all alone but (Mohammed Ali shah) Ali Bhai helped me,” he recalls.
When asked about his Favorite Bollywood actor he says, “I love Salman khan sir. He is a very generous person and a great actor too”.
He believes that Lady Luck has begun to smile at him. Sagar Joshi who has worked as Assistant Director with Rajkumar Hirani has decided to cast him in a lead role in a film he is planning.
“I have a special connection with Nawazuddin Siddiqui sir and I love Om Puri sir as I grew up watching his movies and his acting skills are truly admirable, he truly is a legend.”
“ Nawazuddin Siddiqui sir is also from a small town of Uttar Pradesh. I always look up to him. I feel privileged that I am in contact with him, I would be the happiest person on earth if I ever get a chance to share the screen with him,” he says.
“I am not going to give up on my pursuit,” says he with determination in his voice.
