Hyderabad: Expressing grief over the demise of noted lawyer and former Union minister Shiv Shankar, renowned humour writer Padma Shree Mujtaba Husain said Shiv Shankar was not only the standard-bearer of cosmopolitan culture but was the real sympathiser of Urdu language.
He could not only speak Urdu well, but spoke Urdu with a blend of Persian. As union minister of education he expedited the work of Bureau for Promotion of Urdu and NCERT.
He had deep amicable relations with late Abid Ali Khan editor Siasat. Mr. Husain said with the demise of Shiv Shankar, Urdu has lost a true patron and well-wisher.
