Mumbai, Oct. 19 : Asserting that it was proud of its protest against Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shahryar Khan’s visit to the city, the Shiv Sena on Monday said that even party founder late Balasaheb Thackeray would have wanted the same.
“Why regret? What have we done? We have displayed placards; we have asked not to conduct the meeting. Is it not a democratic country? I am proud of what the Shiv Sainiks did. This is what exactly Balasaheb would have wanted,” Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant told ANI.
“Everyday Pakistanis have been firing along the borders; the jawans are being killed, beheaded by Pakistanis. Extremist activities are going on. Why do we need to talk about cricket with them?” he asked.
The Shiv Sainiks had stormed into the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI) office earlier today to protest against the meeting with the PCB boss to discuss the India-Pakistan bilateral series slated for December.
The meeting was later cancelled in view of the protest. (ANI)
