Aurangabad: Shiv Sena MP from the city, Chandrakant Khaire, has landed in a controversy after he was caught on camera hurling abuses at a tehsildar after a demolition drive in an industrial area near here.
The incident took place last evening in Waluj MIDC area around 15 kms from the city. The MP was apparently peeved over the pulling down of temples during the demolition drive.
Based on the high court orders, District Collector Nidhi Pandey had ordered to raze six religious places in Waluj.
Accordingly, tehsildar Ramesh Munlod led the drive and removed the encroachments and the illegally-built religious places.
After all the encroachments were removed, Khaire, who was in the nearby area reached the spot in the evening and started abusing Munlod publicly.
Khaire asked Munlod, who was seated in a car, what his name was and then hurled abuses at him. The Sena MP also called Munlod an “Aurangzeb ki aulad”.
The incident was captured on camera and the video footage was aired by some news channels.
After the incident, Khaire held a press conference and alleged that the BJP government was hurting the sentiments of Hindus. He also held Commissioner of Police, District Collector and the MIDC administration responsible for the act.
“During the erstwhile Congress-NCP government, not a single temple was razed, but now the BJP government is doing that within a year,” he said.
When asked, the tehsildar Munlod said that he has informed his seniors about the incident and added that he does not intend to file an FIR in this connection.
