NEW DELHI: Just a day to go for Delhi Assembly election, the former ally of the BJP on Friday shower praises on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his government’s “ideal” work and hailed him for singlehandedly taking on BJP’s communal polarisation-based politics.
“Kejriwal is seeking votes on the basis of work done in five years. This is a new experiment in the country’s politics. This should be welcomed beyond party lines. Voters of Delhi are intelligent,” said the Sena’s editorial mouthpiece ‘Saamana.’
“Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have put up all their efforts in Delhi after they lost Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Nothing wrong if they want to win Delhi, but despite an army of 200 MPs, BJP CMs and the entire Modi cabinet, it seems that Kejriwal is weighing heavy on all others,” said the editorial.
The editorial further said that the ruling party at the center is creating hurdles for the AAP government.
“There could be differences of opinion on Kejriwal’s views and style of functioning,” it said, adding, “But despite having limited power in hand and the hurdles created by the Centre, his government’s work in the fields of healthcare, education, civic amenities is ideal.”
Shiv Sena advises the BJP to felicitate the Kejriwal government’s work and also slammed the saffron party for its ‘Hindu vs Muslim’ politics to garner votes only to win the election.
“PM Modi or Amit Shah should felicitate Kejriwal for fulfilling the promises, but instead of doing that senior BJP leaders and ministers are raking up ‘Hindu vs Muslim’ issue in their bid to win the elections,” the ruling party of Maharashtra claimed.
The editorial also opined that the Modi government should have replicated the ‘Delhi model’ in other states.
It also added that during the poll campaign, the BJP accused the AAP Convenor of being a “terrorist”, saying “If they have proof, why don’t they take action against him?”
Delhi will vote on February 8 and the results will be out on February 11.
