Shiv Sena, Congress join hands

Shiv Sena and Congress formed new political equation in Paithan of Aurangabad district where both parties came into an alliance to elect president and vice president of Panchyat Samiti (PS). Former Sena MLA Sandeepan Bhumre’s son Vilas Bhumre was elected as president, while Congress member Babasaheb Pawar was elected as vice president of the PS. In the recently held polls for the Paithan Panchyat Samiti, no single party was in majority. In total 16 seats PS, Sena won 7, MNS 4, Congress 3 and 2 seats were won by independents.

Despite the Paithan MLA Sanjay Waghchaure who belongs to NCP, the party was at backfoot and failed to win a single candidate in this elections. In a diplomatic strategy, former Sena MLA Sandeepan Bhumre joined hands with Congress to keep MNS away from power. In presidential polls held today, the Sena candidate Vijay Bhumre was elected as president and Congressmen Babasaheb Pawar as vice president. Vilas Bhumre and MNS candidate Vitthal Mogal was in fray for the presidential polls. The members raised their hands to elect Bhumre who succeeded to get 10 votes to win polls.

Similarly in the vice presidential polls, Congress fielded Babasaheb Pawar against and independent BharatMule. Pawar bagged 9 votes against 7 by Mule to win the seat.

4 MNS, 2 independent and a Sena member voted him. Reacting on the verdicts, Bhumre said the new equation took place for development of Paithan. UNI
