Shiv sena chief Uddhav thackeray demands reservation for the Dhangara’s, Muslims and other communities.

The AIMIM has welcomed the support from Shiv sena on the 5 % reservation of the muslims in Maharashtra. They also criticised the Devendra Fadnavis Government for not implementing the High Court’s order for the reservation of the muslim community.

Extending their support to the state and the union government shiv sena chief Uddhav thackeray said in a press meet that the government should take in to consideration not just the Marathas but the Muslims, Dhangara’s and all the other backward communities. He also specified, if the Muslim’s had a reasonable demand they should also be considered.

The AIMIM MLA Imteaz Jaleel welcomed Shiv Sena’s stand on the muslim reservation and said the BJP should take a clue on this issue as there are many BJP leaders who are targeting the muslims.

The high court though did not grant OBC status to the Maratha’s, the muslims were granted 5 % reservation. Whereas for the Maratha’s, the court has asked for the setting up of the backward class commission. Based on the circumstantial evidence the muslims will be given 5% quota in education. However its highly regrettable that the government is not implementing the high court’s orders he said.

Jaleel said that the high court’s order meant a lot to the youth as this would remove the educational inequalities in the society. The youth, because of illiteracy is forced to take up menial jobs. This stand from the government will encourage the youth towards higher education and also the inequalities in the society may gradually decrease. The muslims will have a good standard of living with improved employment he added.
He also said that his party is planning an agitation in the same context and the announcement for the same will be made soon.

A BJP leader said the Congress-NCP government had in 2014 issued an ordinance giving 5 per cent reservation in jobs for Muslims. “The ordinance, however, lapsed on December 23, 2014, after which the government scrapped the resolution,” said a BJP leader.

In June 2014, the Congress-NCP government had approved 16 per cent reservation for Marathas and five per cent for Muslims. On November 14, 2014, the high court had put an stay on 16 per cent reservation for Marathas. “The court had also stayed the decision to provide a five per cent job quota to Muslims in government services, but it allowed quotas for them in educational institutions,” said Jaleel.
