Chandigarh, December 05: HEARD about a shirt pricier than certain models of Mercedes, BMW or Audi? Designer Amitabh Chandel, who belongs to the erstwhile royal Chandel family, has introduced just such a range of shirts — priced up to ` 50 lakh. They are made of silk, with zari work and costly jewels.
“ The shirts have been designed for the modernday royal man. Our range starts from a little above ` 50,000,” Amitabh, who is a law graduate and international tennis player as well said.
“ The shirts would change the way rich men dress,” he said, adding that they would also redefine royal identity.
“ There are people who want to connect themselves with the glorious days of yore. For this, they are ready to spend any amount.
My range will cater to that group,” Amitabh added.
A person would visit the customer — who will also be able to place orders online — to take measurements, Amitabh said.
The designer, who also manages a fort renovated into a hotel at Ramgarh near Chandigarh, proposed special treatment to his clients.
“ The shirts would be delivered with a touch of royalty to special customers.
They would be delivered at the customer’s doorstep free if he resides within 300 km of Chandigarh. Beyond that, the customer would have to pay airfare. A person buying a shirt priced more than ` 1 lakh would get the ‘ royal honour’,” he said.
